SplicePal ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the SplicePal mobile application and related services (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password (stored securely via our authentication provider).
Profile Information: You may optionally provide your splicer models and professional certifications.
Usage Data: We track the number of OTDR analyses, troubleshoot sessions, and fiber reference lookups you perform each month for subscription management purposes.
Images: When you use the OTDR Analysis feature, images you upload (photos of OTDR screens or exported traces) are stored in our secure cloud storage to provide the analysis service and maintain your history.
Troubleshoot Session Data: Information you provide during troubleshoot sessions (fiber type, splicer model, environment conditions, error codes) is stored to provide the service and enable follow-up conversations.
Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as device type and operating system version for app compatibility and debugging purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the App's core features: OTDR analysis, troubleshooting, and fiber reference lookups
- To process your images through our AI analysis service and return results
- To maintain your analysis history so you can review past results
- To manage your account and subscription
- To enforce usage limits based on your subscription tier
- To improve the App and develop new features
- To communicate with you about your account or the service
3. AI Processing
Images and text you submit for analysis are processed by third-party AI services (Anthropic's Claude) to generate results. These submissions are sent securely to the AI provider for processing. We do not use your data to train AI models. Please refer to Anthropic's privacy policy for details on how they handle data sent through their API.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud platform with encryption at rest and in transit. Uploaded images are stored in secure cloud storage. We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:
- Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App (cloud hosting, AI processing, authentication)
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of SplicePal, our users, or the public
6. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your account data and analysis history for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual analysis records, troubleshoot sessions, and notes from within the App at any time.
To permanently delete your entire account and all associated data, open the App, go to Profile → Delete Account, and confirm. This will immediately and permanently erase your profile, OTDR results, troubleshoot sessions, notes, uploaded images, and authentication record. There is no recovery once deletion is confirmed.
If you are unable to access the App for any reason, you may also request deletion by emailing support@splicepal.com.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for data processing

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or sending you a notification. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
